As we discuss customer roadmaps for SAP BPC NetWeaver more and more, two fundamental questions keep occurring:

  1. Should we go to HANA?
  2. Do we need to go to the Cloud?

These are two big questions in sap cloud platform which have to be answered. Not only could the SAP landscape change significantly from a technical and architectural perspective, but there will be a cost factor associated with this change. As well as cost, customers are also concerned about the security of cloud computing. For more information on cloud security see below to a useful blog on cloud security.

SAP are currently driving the many different SAP Cloud options they have available to customers. In sap cloud products there are public, private and hybrid offerings available in the SAP Cloud portfolio, customers have the flexibility to pick and choose what is right for them. From Plug and Play cloud options, which take advantage of customers current on-premise system landscape, to HANA Enterprise Cloud (HEC). HEC is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution which is hosted and managed as an isolated landscape and not multi-tenant. HEC is targeted towards applications such as SAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver, allowing from an SAP BPC perspective near real-time data options on a cloud based solution.
